Porsche Cayenne model

Porsche Cayenne is a luxurious mid-size sports crossover manufactured since 2002. This Porsche model is unique - it is both the first Porsche SUV and the first Porsche with four doors. In a way, this model saved the Porsche company from bankruptcy as it faced significant financial difficulties prior to its release. Although Porsche sports car enthusiasts were shocked that the brand released a family SUV built on a Volkswagen platform, this risky move paid off and the first generation Cayenne became the best-selling Porsche model of all time.

Porsche has released three generations of the Cayenne model as well as first and second generation facelifts. To ensure effective indexing by Google, it is important to incorporate relevant keywords and phrases throughout the text. Some potential keywords to consider include "luxury sports crossover," "Porsche SUV," "best-selling Porsche model," "generations," "facelifts," and "Volkswagen platform." By using these keywords naturally in the text, you can improve the visibility and search engine ranking of your website.

Overview of Porsche Cayenne models by generation

Overview of Porsche Cayenne models by generation

Porsche Cayenne I (955) (2002–2007)
Although the Porsche Cayenne was initially met with mixed reviews, it quickly became apparent that it had excellent performance capabilities, good handling, and powerful engines. The first generation Cayenne became the best-selling Porsche model of all time.

The exterior design of this car was inspired by none other than the 911 model, despite the obvious differences between the models. The bi-xenon headlights were similar to those on the 911 996 version, and several other front-end details were also similar. However, the rest of the car doesn't even remotely resemble any Porsche from that time.

The exterior design of this vehicle was inspired by none other than the 911 model, despite obvious differences between the two. The bi-xenon front headlights were similar to those on the 911 996 version, and several other details of the front part of the car were also similar. However, the rest of the car looks nothing like any Porsche of that time.

The car's high bumper houses four or five radiator grilles for both engine cooling and image purposes. The car itself is also high, which is unusual for a Porsche but necessary for a family SUV. The model's silhouette features curved surfaces and sloping tailgate doors.

Inside the Porsche Cayenne, the instrument panel, the key lock on the left, and the gear shift lever are also inspired by the 911 model and familiar to Porsche drivers. The front seats are separated by a high center console, and the Cayenne salon is upholstered in leather. Three people fit comfortably in the back seats, and the seatbacks can be folded down to increase cargo space.

The base model of the first-generation Cayenne is powered by a VW 3.2L VR6 engine, developing 250 hp. The intake manifold is unique to Porsche, but the engine is otherwise similar to the VW engine. With a manual gearbox, this engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds, and with the Tiptronic S gearbox, it takes 9.7 seconds. The Cayenne model is suitable for both on- and off-road driving - just switch the gearbox lever to the "low-range" mode, and you can confidently drive off-road.

Porsche Cayenne II facelift (2015-2018)

The 2014 refreshed Cayenne featured a sharper and more defined exterior design. The front fenders and headlights were entirely new, while the grilles, although also new, remained divided into three main zones. The aluminum skid plate underneath the body was replaced with black plastic. A standard roof spoiler was added to the back. Inside, similarities with the 911 model became more evident with the addition of five dials and a centrally-mounted tachometer in the instrument cluster. The new, tall and thin air vents were inspired by the Panamera sedan, and the PTM system buttons on the center console were updated to match the first-generation Cayenne button design.

Porsche Cayenne II (2011-2015)

Despite the ongoing economic crisis until 2010, the second generation of Porsche Cayenne was introduced in 2011, immediately catching attention. It was a larger, more powerful, and improved car in terms of design.

The second generation Cayenne had a lighter body and a new front-end style that resembled the Panamera. This model had a more sloping rear glass, less vertical front glass, a more inclined roofline, door-mounted mirrors, and smaller rear windows. The car is slightly longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor.

The vehicle is slightly longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor.

From a design standpoint, the second generation of Cayenne was not as popular. Its front bumper was mounted too high and extended downwards with black elements, which did not give the car an elegant look. The rear lights were also subject to much discussion due to their similarity to the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The interior of the second generation Porsche Cayenne features a new steering wheel, instrument cluster, and button layout in the center console. The ventilation vents are larger than those in the previous version and resemble those found in VW vehicles. The S version is equipped with a sunroof. The central console is particularly eye-catching, protruding forward with prominent switches and buttons that give the interior a cockpit feel. The center console also features a 7-inch touchscreen display.

Under the hood of the Porsche Cayenne, there are new engines, including a completely new V6 with an additional turbocharger and a hybrid Cayenne variant. It is also possible to choose a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Porsche Cayenne III (2018-present)

The third generation of Porsche Cayenne was introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was said that the goal of this model was to change the criticized design of the car, but the visible differences are not very significant.

Despite the not-so-big external changes, the car has gained many innovations. This model is produced on a new platform, which is shared with Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. It is 9mm lower, 63mm longer, and 23mm wider, and it is also lighter than its predecessor. Visually, this model once again resembles the 911, with similarities lying in the new front lights featuring 4 LED lights built inside.

Another change is visible in the grille area, where instead of separate grille sections, they are now combined into one with three stripes throughout its length. From the side, the car's aerodynamics are improved by some subtle door and wing deformations. The third brake light is integrated into the roof spoiler at the rear of the car.

The interior of the car is multifaceted. Some elements are typical of a sports car, while others are typical of an SUV. A steering wheel with three spokes is equipped with a rotary knob for driving settings, from comfort to sport mode. The Cayenne has a new 12.3-inch Full HD touch screen Porsche Communication Management information and entertainment system. The analog gauge in the instrument panel is only the tachometer, with two 7-inch screens installed next to it for other important driving information.

Under the hood, the base Porsche Cayenne is equipped with a single-turbo 3.0L V6 engine that delivers 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. The Cayenne Turbo has a more powerful V8 engine with two turbochargers and delivers 550 horsepower.
